PHILIPPINES :- Philippine Army Pursues Offensive Against Daesh-Linked Terrorists in Marawi ::

Philippine military forces continued their offensive against terror groups linked with Daesh (a terrorist group outlawed in Russia) on Thursday in city of Marawi on the southern Mindanao island, media reported, citing a military official.

Spokesperson for the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command told the Anadolu news agency that intensified airstrikes and artillery fighting against the Maute and Abu Sayyaf terror groups were launched at 7 a.m. local time (23:00 GMT, Wednesday).

At least nine terrorists were killed in the latest attacks, according to the news agency.

Martial law was declared on the island in May by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte after a conflict broke out between Philippine security forces and Islamic extremists affiliated with the Daesh.
